New O2 Sensor Engine Light Still On. Just because you get an o2 sensor code doesn't necessarily mean the sensor is bad. There are many reasons why the check engine light appears.
I bought a 98 ford ranger xlt several months ago and have been working through it fixing issues whenever time permits. However, the check engine light keeps coming on with the code for faulty oxygen sensor. Which was bank 1 sensor 1.

In case of low oxygen sensor, the bright orange check engine light will be located on the dashboard for a long time. Check engine light still on after new o2 sensors. So i disconnected my negative to my battery and replaced the sensor.
There Are Several Diffrent O2 Sensor Codes That Will Help Isolate The Cause.
I believe there might be a fuse also. Many/most times o2 codes are not caused by the o2 sensors. Your oxygen sensor may have been replaced by the technician, but your spark plugs need to be replaced as well.

If you have to drive 10 minutes before the check engine light comes on with the same code with the new o2 sensors, then the o2 sensor may be getting coated or contaminated where it can no longer read the oxygen content in the exhaust gasses and the voltage signal from the o2 sensor remains high. The easy way would be to verify that you have +12 volts (ignition key on) to one of the pins going to the heater at the connector that the oxygen sensor plugs into.using a known good ground for the other meter lead.
Ok Guys I Just Purchased A Subaru Wrx 02 And It Had A Check Engine Light So I Took It To My Local Auto Parts Store To Get The Codes Checked Out They Told Me Its My O2 Sensors And The Car Is Smoking With A Rreeally Heavy Fuel Smell Nothing Else Just Str8 Raw Fuel Now I Just Purchased The Own Sensor For The Upstream Witch Is By The Right Passenger Front Tire But The Code Is Still.
Posted by mcnally on february 9, 2022. According to my diagnostic flow chart, the only things that can cause these codes are bad wiring, bad o2 sensors, bad relay, or bad pcm. Took my car to an exhaust place, they said it was my o2 sensor or my catalytic converter.
Secondly You Never Replaced The Catalyst.
So replace both sensors and the cat and clear the codes. The oxygen sensor was replaced, 'check engine' light is still on. Their diagnose was code p0141, oxygen sensor heater, o2 sensor had to be replaced.
